***The Conference will also feature a poverty simulation segment called the Walk A Mile Experience (WAM), sponsored by United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM). There are TWO ways you can participate!  

VOLUNTEER:  We are looking for Conference registrants who are interested in volunteering to assist during this segment, which will take place during the first two morning panel sessions. If you would like to volunteer for the WAM segment, please indicate your preference on your registration form. Someone will be in contact with you to confirm your volunteer position.

EXPERIENCE:  Participants are assigned to “families.” Families engage in the center of the room and are surrounded by tablesrepresenting community services (i.e., bank, grocer, school, nonprofit) and are challenged to navigate the services providedin order to take care of their families, ultimately getting out of crisis and achieving self-sufficiency. Throughout theactivity, participants experience UWCM interventions ranging from 2-1-1 Maryland at United Way of Central Maryland toany of the services provided by our impact partners. If you would like to experience the WAM segment, please indicate your preference on your registration form.
