Skills Before Pills

Whether it’s on the evening news, your Facebook newsfeed or a commercial, we often hear, “there’s a pill for that.” And, while that’s true, we have found that teaching adults skill building, such as how to deal with stressors and respond appropriately to situations, is a greater indicator to success than just taking their medicine every day.

Join us for the morning to hear from Oaklawn's Medical Director, Dr. Daniel Kinsey, Oaklawn's medical director as he shares his expertise on the following topics:

1.       The  evidence-based support of developing  life-skills before prescribing

2.        How immediate prescribing can lead to inappropriate effects on the individual

3.       The value of psychotropic medications in treatment

4.       The method of complimentary skill-building and medication management to improve an individual’s chance of recovery
