Building a Better World

Summer Reading Program 2017 

Join us all summer long for our Building a Better World Summer Reading Program at the Richland Community Library! Read books, do fun activities and earn rewards throughout the summer and do your part to Build a Better World!

Summer Kick Off!  Ice Cream Social in the Park

Friday June 23rd from 1:00pm-2:00pm

Come and celebrate the start of summer with a little ice cream!  Enjoy famiy and friends while local celebrities read books to your children.  Register by clicking the link above.  Attend our Kick Off Celebration to pick up an Activity folder, and create a recycled T-shirt bag as part of our Build a Better World program.  The first 150 children to register will receive a tree seedling to plant!  Can't make it to our Kick Off?  No worries!  You may visit the Children's  Library after June 23rd to pick up your Reading Kit.

Children's Summer Reading Program

All ages, through 5th grade will be placed in our  Children's Reading Program.

Once registered, pick up your Activity folder, make a recycled T-shirt bag and color a picture of the world that will hang in the library.  You can do this at the Kick Off or in the Children's Library after June 23rd.

Your challenge?  To read books weekly or have someone read to you weekly.

Every time you return books to the Children's Library, you will document the number of books you've read on a card by stamping or placing stickers on your card.  Make sure to write your name on your card so we can hang it from the world you colored. 

You will be able to pick out a prize each week that you've read and ruturned books during our Summer Reading Program.

Complete the activity folder for more prizes!

And of course, don't forget to join us for our family programs throughout the summer.

Teen Summer Reading Program

All children 6th grade and up will be placed in our Teen Reading Program.

Once registerd, pick up your Summer Reading Log , and make a recycled T-shirt bag.  You can do this at the Kick Off or at the library after June 23rd.

Your Challenge?  To read, read, read and log the number of hours you've read on your reading log.

For every 10 hours you log, come into the library to receive your candy-bar. Then fill in your bar in the teen room to compete with friends!

The top 3 readers will recieve a prize at the end of summer.
