Through Thick & Thin: Exploring the Versatility of Acrylic Paint with Dina Wakley 

My “Art Journal Play” classes are all about exploring and playing with art journaling and mixed-media techniques. The goal is to learn techniques, experiment, play, and make finished journal pages. We’ll be working in journals, but the techniques apply to all mixed-media projects (canvases, book-making, etc.).

Acrylic paint is one of the most versatile mediums you can use. Come to this painting class where you will learn how to use acrylic paint both thick (impasto) and thin (watercolor). We’ll make painted papers and them incorporate them into lovely journal compositions.

Note: The pictures are representative of the type of art we will create in class. I teach techniques and processes, so students will likely not end up with art that looks exactly like the photos. 

Student Supply List: 

• Basic Tool Kit:
  • Ranger craft sheet
  • Scissors
  • Water container to clean your brushes
  • Palette knife
  • Baby wipes
  • Paper towels
  • Paper plate or palette paper to use as a paletter (or you can just use your craft sheet)
• You may also want a small notebook and a pen for taking notes.
• Your art journal (I recommend my 8"x10" Media Journal)
• Recommended: apron
