STATEMENT OF NEED


The field of Internal Medicine is a diverse and important specialty in today’s patient-centered healthcare environment. An educational gap analysis has identified area that must be addressed: Internal Medicine Physicians must maintain skills and competency in this constantly changing environment; To address this issues and close the gaps, this annual update presenting current thinking and up-to-date information was developed for Internal Medicine Physicians.


EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
 

Upon completion of this seminar, participants should be able to:

  • Assess recent advances in clinical medicine and related sciences in light of the supporting evidence;
  • Outline the clinical implications of recent research in selected areas of Internal Medicine;
  • Evaluate and respond to changes in the external practice environment and their potential impact on medical practice and patient care; and
  • Improve clinical practice by incorporating major new developments in subspecialty medicine.
