Building Bridges to LGBT Cultural Competency 201 Live Webinars


Class Dates: April 3, 10 and 17 from 11:00am-12:15am Pacific

This is a three part live webinar that is open to everyone and is the foundation for all Out & Equal Core and Advanced courses.

The Building Bridges To LGBT Cultural Competency is conducted by certified Out & Equal trainers. This program targets senior executives, managers, human resources and diversity professionals, customer service representatives and the general employee population. Although based in corporate training, instructors have also worked with social services, faith communities, governmental and educational settings, and provide relevant examples based on the course attendees.

The course provides tools, best practices and networking opportunities that enable employers to create quality programs to get the most from all their employees. This training fosters increased awareness on the keys to enhancing LGBT workplace equality. Understanding the business case provides insights on how to create engaged employees and expanding business opportunities in the LGBT marketplace. Increasing the level of comfort for all employees and improving communication in the workplace between LGBT and straight employees. Here are the details on each webinar

Part 1 covers the LGBT Terminology & Concepts  includes:

  • Develop tools to address the LGBT community with cultural competency in the workplace
  • Acquire mastery of terminology and concepts when discussing birth/assigned sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, and gender expression and how they impact each of us
  • Break down myths and stereotypes of the LGBT community
Part 2 covers the Business Case for LGBT Inclusion   includes:

  • Discuss the best practices for company policies/benefits and global policies for LGBT employees
  • Evaluate your company on LGBT workplace equality initiatives


Part 3 covers ally development and action planning for your organization includes:

  • Identify components of an ally program that includes using the Ally Continuum to move from awareness to ally to advocate
  • Practicing ally skills in common workplace scenarios
  • Discuss research, case studies and next steps for your workplace
