REGISTER TODAY FOR CLERGY CONFERENCE!
Please join us for this year’s Clergy Conference Monday, April 24 through Wednesday, April 26 at Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in Brewster, Massachusetts.
Our principal presenter will be The Rev. Dr. William Brosend, professor of New Testament and Preaching at the School of Theology, University of the South. The program he will be sharing with us is entitled "Preach Better, for God's Sake!" which he describes as "a somewhat light-hearted title for a very serious topic - how may we improve at one of the few things that is entirely under our control, the quality of our preaching." This year, the conference will include a mix of plenary sessions, preaching groups and workshops.
Overnight Accommodations: Both single and double rooms in the Conference Center Hotel and two- and three-bedroom condominiums in the Bay Pines Villas are available. Rooms are also available across the street (about .5 miles away) at the Britterige Village for a lesser fee. Rooms will be allotted in the order in which registrations are received.
Free-Time & Leisure Activities: With direct access to the Cape Cod shore, Ocean Edge is literally at the ocean’s edge. The hotel also features an indoor pool and fitness center. For more information about amenities at Ocean Edge: www.oceanedge.com
Registration Deadline: Midnight on Sunday, April 2. No registrations will be accepted after this deadline.
FAQs:
May I register directly with Ocean Edge?
No. Diocesan Staff is processing all conference registrations.
If I attend only a portion of the conference, can I get a discounted meal plan?
No. Meals for the entire conference are included in all registration options, except for the Budget Plan. We are unable to provide prorated adjustments based on partial attendance.
Is clerical attire required?
You probably will feel more comfortable leaving clericals at home, unless you are planning to have your picture taken for a clergy ID. Many tend to dress up a bit for Tuesday evening’s Bishops’ Banquet. Otherwise, dress is casual.
Will you be providing lunch on Monday and Wednesday?
Sorry, no. And to avoid bottlenecks in the hotel’s sole lunch venue (Bayzo’s Pub), we suggest that you grab lunch prior to arriving at Ocean Edge.
If I cancel my reservation, will I be reimbursed?
By registering, you commit to paying the full amount due. If, however, an extenuating circumstance, e.g., a health or family emergency, forces you to cancel and you notify us within 24 hours of your registration, we will refund your fee in full. After that time, reimbursement for room cancellations is possible only if we are able to transfer your accommodations to another conference attendee.
Is there a way to make or display announcements?
We will be running “scrolling blurbs” at various times during the conference. To get your announcement advertised, send your information in a concise format that will fit on a single PowerPoint slide to Jamie Reamer (jreamer@diomass.org) by 5pm on Friday, April 14. Note: There will be no open-mic opportunities for announcements beyond the scope of conference activities.
If you have any other questions, contact Laura Simons at 617-482-4826 x406 or lsimons@diomass.org.
