The 2017 NINR Boot Camp is a one-week intensive research training course at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. Sponsored by the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), the course is administered by the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES).

NINR's 2017 “Precision Health: From ‘Omics’ to Data Science” Boot Camp will engage and inform scientists, clinicians, graduate students, and faculty from multiple disciplines on the latest
advances in genomics, pharmacogenomics, nutrigenomics, metabolomics, microbiomics, and data science as well as the associated ethical, legal, and social implications of precision health. The Boot Camp will address the impact of precision health on health care and society
and will feature lectures by distinguished guest speakers, discussion groups, and case studies of targeted strategies.  

The event is FREE. Attendees are required to pay for housing, food, and transportation expenses incurred during program participation.

Presentations and slides will be provided electronically. Please bring your laptop. 

Course Objectives
Engage with leaders in the areas of emerging "omics" technologies, protecting participant privacy, data sharing, and data science.

  • Assess how integrating patient-provider collaborations with “omics” and data science technologies is refining definitions of health and illness.
  • Take part in interactive discussions on case studies of targeted strategies and focused topics moderated by scientific experts.
  • Network with other attendees and speakers to share ideas, ask questions, and find potential collaborators.

Graduate students, faculty, and clinicians who are citizens or permanent U.S. residents may attend.
