Ruiz Branch, Austin Public Library:
Legally Setting Up Your Business

Do you know what can go wrong and be more costly if you make business legal decisions without good advice? This workshop will help you learn how to choose the best business and tax structure, social media, employee and independent contractor agreements, non-competes, and non-disclosure agreements.

This invaluable and upbeat workshop addresses critical legal issues for small businesses. You will learn the types of business entities and what might be right for your business. Also, you will learn if you need to spend money forming an LLC or corporation and then doing the annual reporting. For some businesses, money may be better spent on marketing or insurance while remaining a sole proprietorship. What is right for you, and at what stage of your business? What are your options for professional help when the time is right, and what can happen if you try to do it yourself?   Would you repair your car or fix your electrical wiring if you have no experience doing that type of work? It is safe and comforting to have help, so you can concentrate on running your business.
