She has taught hundreds of teleconferences and day-long workshops on ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnosis coding, OASIS, home health prospective payment system, coverage and documentation, and a variety of other clinical and regulatory home health and hospice topics for individual agencies, state associations and national organizations. She regularly provides record reviews related to compliance with regulatory and third party payer guidelines for home health and hospice agencies as well as coding and OASIS accuracy reviews. She also served as a member of the Expert Panel to the Board of Medical Specialty Coding and Compliance from 2008-2014.
This 2-day educational session has something for everyone! The program will span basic to intermediate level coding skills and provide intensive opportunity to test and apply your coding skills. The program will begin with a strong foundation based on discussing the Official Guidelines and conventions that provide the foundation for coding which include many significant changes from prior versions of the Guidelines. In addition the program will incorporate numerous, ongoing updates provided by the American Hospital Association Coding Clinic (AHACC) that has responsibility of producing additional official coding interpretation and guidance to augment the Coding manual and Official Guidelines.
This program offers a combination of didactic information and hands on coding practice. Emphasis is on interactive practice – whether it involves finding examples that illustrate a convention or guideline in the Coding manual, finding the best code for an individual diagnostic statement or coding sample scenarios to demonstrate accurate selection and sequencing of pertinent ICD-10-CM codes.
During this session, we will be digging deep into the “with” convention to explore the consideration and options that help decide whether you make those assumptions of linkage or not. The “with” convention is not just an automatic assumption, especially when combined with multiple causes.
Are you up-to-date on the multitude of clarifications and interpretations? If we know anything for certain about coding, it is that there are always changes!
Why is this program an ICD-10-CM Coding Intensive?
Because we will spend two days away from the phones and interruptions so we can do some intensive coding practice! Don’t miss the fun!
