Maybe you know a Granny. Maybe you even know some of the 11 members of the Granny Peace Brigade Philadelphia who were arrested in Philadelphia in 2006 when they tried to “enlist” in the United States military? Protesting the war in Iraq, the Grannies had refused to leave the Military Recruitment Center. Charged with “Defiant Trespass,” a judge later dismissed the charges affirming the legality of non-violent protest.
Learn how the Grannies were inspired by that event to increase their anti-war efforts and to speak out against social and economic injustice.
Thanks to FitC Member Jean Haskell for organizing this event.
