Getting The Monkeys Off Your Back

Too often, as a manager or supervisor, you find yourself picking up "monkeys"--responsibilities and work that rightly should be performed by others. Each time you say, "I'll look into it and get back to you," you have just picked up a monkey. If you find yourself harried and having more work to do than time allows, you are probably picking up tasks that belong to your staff and colleagues. During this interactive workshop, learn how to distinguish a monkey from a valid task and identify your underlying motivators for accepting others’ monkeys. Develop the skills to assist your staff in regaining control of their own responsibilities and allowing them to act and be accountable for the ‘next move’.

Defusing Emotionally Charged Situations

Work with anyone long enough there are bound to be differences in opinion.  Passions soar and tempers flare.  Before you know it the situation is spiraling out-of-control into full conflict mode.  What can you do to defuse these volatile situations?  During this session learn five key actions to defuse emotions and get those challenging situations under control.  Identify and separate the problem from the people or personalities.  Learn how to use relationship building statements to attend to people’s needs, how to avoid getting trapped and how to move smoothly into problem solving to make the interaction more productive.  Your success depends on it!
