A Chance to Make a Difference

Why would FitC member Barbara DeConcini, an emerita Professor of Religion and Culture at Emory University, take a job in Fairhill, the section of the city with the highest poverty and crime rates?

The Providence Center is why.  This Philadelphia non-profit has been making a radical difference in the lives of people in Fairhill since 1993, through educational programs that empower children, youth, and adults to have the capacity and spirit to changes their lives and their community.

Executive Director David Chiles and Chair of the Board Barbara DeConcini will open your eyes to the ways that a small group of committed people can defy statistics, change lives, and spark hope.
