Hands-On Class: BBQ Boot Camp

Saturday, 8 January, All Day – 7:30–9:30 am, 9:30–3:30 break, return for 3:00–7:00pm (dinner guests arrive at 6pm)
Join us for this all day boot camp at the Big Green Egg Culinary Center, where we convert average backyard grillers into professionally seasoned EGGsperts. Join our Pitmaster, Judd Foster from South of Heaven BBQ, and our crew as we pull back the curtain and reveal all of our BBQ secrets to you. We start at the beginning – what is BBQ? What is smoking and how is smoking different from grilling? What wood chips or chunks should we use? How long should I cook different meats? Temperatures? Rubs? Sauces? … we cover it all!
We will begin the day with a Big Green Egg breakfast, followed by preparing the barbecue meats to go on the EGG … and thanks to the help of the Big Green Egg BBQ Guru, we can take a break while the meats slow cook.
Returning at 3pm, we will prepare some perfect BBQ sides with Judd’s wife and BBQ partner, Kate, put some chicken on the grill and finish the smoked meats.
Finally, at 6pm, ask a guest to join you as we enjoy the meal you prepared: brisket (sliced, chopped and the burnt ends, pulled pork, beef spare ribs, slow-smoked chicken, custard-filled cornbread and more!
