Colleen Mercuri-Johnson, MSW, LISW-S is employed by Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities (BCBDD) as a mental health therapist in their Specialized Counseling Program. Part of her duties include increasing trauma awareness and program development. She specializes in working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and intellectual/developmental disabilities (MH/IDD) using a Trauma Informed Care model. She also presents on many topics associated with persons with IDD, such as impact of trauma, mental health, and sexuality. She has been an instructor of Human Sexuality courses at Sinclair Community College. She is a Certified Sexuality Educator through the American Association of Sexuality Education, Counselors, and Therapists. She holds a Master in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Arts from Wright State University.
This training is designed to increase participants' knowledge and comfort when addressing topics of sexuality with children. Through discussion on stages of sexual development, participants will gain an understanding of what healthy sexual exploration is and when/how to intervene when they have concerns. Discussion will also include social messages around sexuality, safety with social media, sexting etc. Participants are encouraged to bring questions.

CEUs: 1.75 Social Work/ Counselor CEUs are provided by the Butler County Educational Service Center approved & awarded by the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board Approval RSX050901 & RCX051001.
Target Audience: parents of children up to ages 18, anyone who works with children, educators, etc.
