Adulting 101 to provide fun and useful tips for an easier transition into an independent life

Join Charlie Heinberg and James Schaeffer, local actors and comedians with a little experience as adults and several years of financial literacy training, as they attempt to teach you everything you need to know to be a successful adult. Well, maybe not everything. Adulting 101 is a class about what YOU wish you knew as you're becoming more independent. They won't teach you how to fold a fitted sheet, but they can give you some tips to better understand what it means when you're buying car insurance, or how to protect your rights when you rent an apartment, or how to simply live on the amount of money you make.

Each class will start with a tool box of topics, and the participants will determine the direction the instruction takes. When you leave, you'll have a basic understanding of each topic and two or three life hacks that will make you more effective in each area.

Classes will meet at the Redwood Lounge in Redwood Park. There is a $20 fee for the whole series of classes, or you can sign up for $5 each. Register now for the series or one class.

Classes include:

March 26 -- Keep the Change (Budgeting)

April 2 -- To Protect and Swerve (Auto maintenance and insurance)

April 9 -- Credit vs. You (Credit Awareness)

April 16 -- Housing Heartache (Housing)

April 23 -- Wear It & Work It! (Career)

April 30 -- Your Money, Your Future (Bank, Retirement and Health Savings Accounts)

Presented by Arcata Economic Development Center. The class was developed after US Bank provided operating funds to further AEDC's  mission, which includes supporting community endeavors that support the economic well being of our community.
