Keynote Speaker:
Head Geologist, Center for Integrated Seismic Research
Dr. Peter H. Hennings is the head geologist for the Center for Integrated Seismicity Research (CISR) in the Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG) at the University of Texas at Austin. Among other duties for the BEG, Dr. Hennings leads the research side of CISR, which is a program that conducts research in the areas of structural geology, reservoir geomechanics, subsurface characterization and modeling.
The State of Texas has provided the BEG $4.471 million to develop and manage TexNet, which is an earthquake monitoring system. The BEG plans to have six permanent seismic monitoring stations in the Permian Basin by the end of 2017 and nine additional portable stations in our area by the end of 2018. How many stations are currently in the Permian Basin? What kind of data are those stations providing? What does that data really mean?
To learn the answers to these questions and more, join us on March 23, 2017 for the next PBPA Membership Luncheon!
