Entrepreneurship
A pathway to prosperity in NEPA

Entrepreneurship
A Strategy for Success

During the past few years, those following rural development trends and strategies have heard a lot about the need to encourage entrepreneurial activity in rural communities.  Many leading researchers in the rural development field have expressed this need, and as policymakers and rural development practitioners strive to develop strategies to sustain rural economies, increasing entrepreneurship has risen to the top of the list.

Entrepreneurship is traditionally defined as the process of designing, launching and running a new business which typically begins as a small business, such as a startup company, offering a product, process or service for sale or hire. Wayne and Pike Counties are home to many successful entrepreneurs. With over 80% of businesses having less than 10 employees, Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance has long provided training and support systems to assist small businesses.

The Community Education Councils (CECs) are non-profit organizations that bring higher education opportunities to rural or educationally underserved communities in Pennsylvania.

Don Webster, the Executive Director of TecBRIDGE will discuss
