About ArtSpace Herndon 

Arts Herndon is an independent 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization and serves as the official arts agency of the Town of Herndon. We operate ArtSpace Herndon, the Art Gallery and Performance Space at 750 Center Street, Herndon. We also provide arts education, arts scholarships, works of public art and grants to small arts organizations and artists. All Arts Herndon programming and exhibits are made possible in part by generous contributions from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the Town of Herndon, the Arts Council of Fairfax County, the Nelson J and Katherine Friant Post Foundation, Steve and Pat Macintyre, and by our generous sponsors, supporters and volunteers.

ARTISANWORKS ‘17


Seeking high-quality handcrafted objects of utility and beauty for sale opportunity at ArtSpace Herndon

Works in glass, metal, enamel, ceramics, textiles, reed, wood, kinetics, sculpture, paper, printmaking & leather

Rules / Regulations

Eligibility: ArtisanWorks is open to all independent artisans, makers and creators 18-years or older, residing in or having studio space in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, West Virginia and Delaware. Exceptions will be made on an individual basis.  

What to Enter: High-quality handcrafted works in glass, metal, ceramics, reed, fiber art/textiles, sculpture, wood, leather, paper, printmaking, kinetics and other artisanal mediums are sought. Works entered must be made by hand with preference given to those that show maker’s individuality.

No reproductions or copyrighted materials are eligible. No artisan items featured in previous shop displays held at   ArtSpace Herndon are eligible for this call.

Entry Fee: $0.00

Selection/Display: Consideration for selection and display at ArtisanWorks is based on craftsmanship, use of materials that are of exceptional quality, creativity, saleability and category balance. Our goal is to have a wide selection of high-quality items at various price points on display for sale opportunity at/through ArtSpace Herndon. ArtSpace Herndon will serve as the final selection authority and reserves the right to limit the number of works shown per artisan and determine the display setup.

Acceptance: Entries will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis beginning March 20, 2017, Apply early; space is limited. Artisans will receive an email acceptance notification, followed by information via email. A list of accepted artisans will be posted on our website. Please verify information for accuracy.

Display: All selected works must be ready for display and remain for a 4-month term unless sold or mutually agreed otherwise.  All paper items must be secured in clear protective closure bags of appropriate size.

Size & Weight: Items may not exceed 24” in any direction and must weigh less than 30 lbs.

Delivery/Pick Up: All accepted artisan works must be delivered to and picked up from ArtSpace Herndon by appointment. All works not picked up by the day and time, as mutually agreed become the property of ArtSpace Herndon.

Shipping: Artisan must make special arrangements with the ArtisanWorks Manager to receive shipped or mailed works as well as return items to be shipped back to Artisan.  All costs are the responsibility of Artisan. Insurance is required on the items shipped.

Sales: All artisan works must be for sale and available for display the entire length of agreed term as stated in the Agreement unless sold.  If the work is shown on another site not affiliated with ArtSpace Herndon, and the item sells, the 25% commission is payable to ArtSpace Herndon.

Pricing: Varied priced points are highly encouraged. ArtisanWorks will provide price tags.

Commission: ArtSpace Herndon will retain a 25% commission based on the sale price of the work sold, not including sales tax or shipping and handling fees.

Sales Tax: ArtSpace Herndon collects and pays all sales tax. 

IRS W-9: Depending on total income from fiscal year sales, Artisan may be required to complete an IRS W-9 form, before being issued further check(s).

Rights: Artisan grants ArtSpace Herndon the right to photograph and use images of his or her works featured in the ArtisanWorks shop.

Liability: Artisan assumes all risk to or involving the sales of his or her works. All artisan works are displayed at Artisan’s risk. ArtSpace Herndon assumes no responsibility. Artisan should insure his or her work. The employees and volunteers of ArtSpace Herndon are not liable for theft or damage to artisan works in transit, on display or otherwise, or for theft of or insufficient purchase funds.

Agreement: By entering Call for Entries ArtisanWorks ‘17, Artisan agrees to abide by all rules and regulations herein, in the Agreement and those as published and available through ArtSpace Herndon and Arts Herndon. Such form the Agreement between Artisan and ArtSpace Herndon and must be adhered to by both the Artisan and ArtSpace Herndon.

Artisan agrees to abide by all rules, regulations and policies of ArtSpace Herndon and to hold its affiliates, and volunteers harmless from any and all actions or liabilities.  Failure to comply with these rules and regulations constitutes withdrawal from ArtisanWorks ’17 and removal of items displayed by ArtSpace Herndon.
