The Ben Boyle & Ron Kostyla Classic

Join us for our 34th afternoon of competition, camaraderie, and giving as we tee off the annual Ben Boyle & Ron Kostyla Golf Classic for SHARE.

If you are from the Pawtuxet Valley and have lived here much of your life, you may already be familiar with the name Ben Boyle. Ben was an officer of Centreville Savings Bank for many years. An accident one day changed Ben from a man who had helped so many people into a man suddenly needing help himself. Instead of sitting back defeated by his abrupt disability, Ben continued to help others despite being confined to a wheelchair. Through his accident, Ben became involved with SHARE.

As a founding member of the Pawtuxet Valley Rotary Club, Ben was able to engage the club in assisting SHARE. The Rotary began sponsoring an annual golf tournament for SHARE’s benet, which was named in Ben’s honor. The tournament continued in the years after Ben’s passing as a fitting legacy to Mr. Boyle’s years of community service.

Longtime players in the tournament will undoubtedly know the name Ron Kostyla. A well known local businessman, Ron devoted his time and effort to organizing and running the Ben Boyle Golf Classic from its humble beginnings until his passing. His dedication to the cause and his impact on the community is, if only in a small way, honored now by sharing the name of this golf event.

SHARE: The Society for Human Advancement through Rehabilitation Engineering

Imagine being unable to earn a living, get an education, or even tell someone your needs.

Imagine the frustration of having ideas and dreams which you  cannot express to others.

The SHARE Foundation has imagined those scenarios. For over 30 years, SHARE has put the imaginations and ingenuity of engineers to work, enabling people with severe disabilities to express their thoughts and needs through the power of computers.

The SHARE Foundation's mission is to empower physically challenged, non-speaking children and adults to express their basic wants and needs, communicate with others, control their immediate environments and achieve the greatest practical level of independence. SHARE succeeds in its mission by directing resources that enable the design, adaptation and fabrication of high technology equipment tailored specically to the unique abilities of every individual who seeks help.
