About Jay Seldin

I am a documentary travel photographer and photo educator.

I use photography as a means for personal self-expression – I make pictures for myself, to better understand my reality, and to express my interpretation of the world around me.

I seek out, the stories that are not at first obvious, but develop into beautiful character studies of people surviving in their own world.

As the owner and workshop director of CPE Workshops, I’ve led groups to exotic locations around the globe. I have been taking small groups of amateur to professional photographers on my journeys for the past 10 years.

My travels have included photo shoots in Kashmir, India, Turkey, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, China, Burma, Cuba, Ireland, Scotland plus most of the European countries.

I am a former public high school and college photography instructor.  I have been exhibiting my photos for 35 years, nationally and internationally. My work is a mix of black and white color images. I am sponsored by Canson-Infinity digital paper company.  I have worked as an “artist-in-residence” for the Newark Art Museum and the Montclair Art Museum in New Jersey. My recent book, The Cubans, is published by Backyard Hammock Publishing.

About Ira L. Black

I am a NJ-based Portrait, Commercial, Editorial and Fine Art Photographer. As an editorial photographer, I have photographed His Holiness The Dalai Lama, David Beckham, Jay Sean, Danielle Brooks and many others. My images have been featured on the cover of magazines, newspapers and websites worldwide.

I am a passionate photography and digital media educator of adults and students for over 10 years. I am solely interested in helping others in achieving new levels in their photography. I lead the Digital Arts and Media Club at the Red Oaks Middle School and have founded the I Rock Arts program, which integrates Arts with other school curriculum.  The result of my work with students is featured in the Harvest Festival Cookbook available on Amazon.com showcasing students’ images of families and International dishes.

Having traveled to over 30 countries including a six-month backpacking around the world trip, I savor meeting people from other lands, finding the common ground that unites us all and using photography as a way to illustrate this.

I am the Gallery Director at 70 South Gallery responsible for identifying the high school student and professional photographers that are featured in the gallery. I am also the moderator and the host of the successful series of candid artist talks, The Informal Lens.

Prior to my photographic direction, I received my MBA from Penn State University and was a global executive leading teams in business development.
