Tuesdays at 2 PM, June 6, 13, 20 and 27
Some people really like reading poetry. Others, not so much. When was the last time you read a poem? In your mind, what makes a good poem?
Kathleen Stevens, a retired writing teacher from Rowan University, believes that outside of literature classes the test of a poem’s merit is whether it appeals to the person reading it.
Join her Tuesday afternoons in June to consider poems from a range of poets. Discussion will include reflections on the craft of poetry— the way poets shape lines, employ sound and rhythm, and intensify meaning through word choice and imagery. We think you’ll find poems that appeal to you.
