Fundamentals of Sales & Use Tax- Local and out of State Taxes

This presentation covers the basic concepts of sales and use tax with a focus on Illinois’ rules. We will discuss return requirements (nexus), taxability of receipts, and when to pay use tax on purchases. This event is applicable to start-ups and established companies, as well as those that sell to wholesalers and end-consumers.

  About the Speakers:  

Ron Cook: Ron is a senior manager and the leader of Plante Moran’s Illinois state and local tax practice. Ron has over 22 years of experience in state and local taxation, and specializes in income, franchise, sales/use and other types of transaction taxes. Ron graduated from Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Accountancy and is a frequent speaker on state and local tax matters.

Jason Parish: Jason is a senior manager in Plante Moran’s state and local tax practice, and consults with manufacturing, retailing, distribution and service companies on a variety of issues, such as nexus, sales taxability, voluntary disclosure, and tax agency examinations.
