About NAMEPA's Safety At Sea Seminar and AMVER Awards Reception This seminar is designed to bring industry and governmental leaders together to discuss concerns about safety and strategies for meeting them. Why are ships finding themselves in distress, running aground, colliding? What role does ECDIS play? How about training? Are crews overburdened? We celebrate National Maritime Day by reflecting on the role the maritime industry plays economically and globally. The evening celebrates over 160 merchant shipping companies that volunteer to be available for maritime emergency response. |

NAMEPA is honored that our collaboratiowith Patagonia to date has resulted in our receiving a second grant from this corporation that is world renowned for its efforts to protect the environment....
AMVER Awards Reception The evening celebrates over 160 merchant shipping companies that volunteer to be available for maritime emergency response. The AMVER Awards Program was inaugurated in 1971 to recognize those vessels which regularly participate in the AMVER system. Extremely favorable response from the merchant shipping industry around the world to the idea of annual AMVER awards has ensured the continuance of the program. AMVER Awards materials provide worldwide exposure and favorable publicity for the program. Ships flying the various colored AMVER Pennants are a constant reminder on the oceans of that ship and company's commitment to safety at sea. Prominent display of AMVER Certificates, found in company boardrooms, corporate office reception areas and on the bulkhead of a ship's bridge or wardroom, attest to the prestige accorded with these awards.
