Join us to kick-off the Week of the Young ChildMarch to the state capitol and rally for our children, our dedicated teachers, our working parents, and our community non-profits.

Governer's Mansion & State Capitol
Monday, April 24, 2017, Sacramento

Please register to let us know you will be joining us in Sacramento! We want to know our numbers (and to prepare enough lunch)! You can register yourself, colleagues, parents, and children (with adults!)—groups up to 100 in one registration.

Need a ride? Ride with us! SFCCPA is chartering a bus for the day, leaving from 1 Ferry Plaza, Embarcadero, San Francisco at 8 AM, returning at ~3:45 PM. And other buses are leaving from various locations throughout the city (Mission area, Bayview). No charge, but you do need to reserve a seat for each passenger. You will be able to indicate the number of seats you need on the bus in the registration. Buses are filling — we will contact you to let you know where to get on if the Ferry Plaza bus is full!

If you have not registred with any organizations/groups yet, please register whether you need a ride or not—so we can count you in our numbers (and have enough lunch)! Additional details for bus the meet-up in San Francisco, and rally in Sacramento to come.

What can you do to get ready for the 24th?

1. Come to a planning meeting:
April 20, Thurs. 6:30-8:30 pm (Children's Council of San Francisco, Room 120) Register here.

2. Spread the word! Download and share these flyers in English, Spanish, and Chinese

3. Tweet your support!
Sample tweets:
#ECEcan #March4ECE on April 24!

#March4ECE on April 24! Sacramento here we come!

Support the San Francisco Walk Around the Block on Friday, April 28 too:  #Walk4ECE on April 28 @ SF City Hall. #ECEcan!

4. Writ
a letter to the editor to let the San Francisco community know how important ECE is. Make it timely; tell them that the Week of the Young Child is coming up April 23-29 with two important actions: 1) the Young Children's march and rally in Sacramento on Monday, April 24, and 2) the Walk Around the Block in San Francisco on Friday, April 28. Here's how. You can see a sample letter to the editor here.

Send a letter to your legislators too!
Do you know your SF Supervisor? Heres a list and here's a link to find yours. Let them know you want $10M more for ECE!
Do you know your State Legislator? Here's a link to find out. Let them know you want $800M more for ECE!

Hold a day—or the whole week—for teachers, parents, and your community to write letters at your site.

5. Learn some chants and songs.
Make up your own and add to our list!
Some favorites:
Teachers can't afford to stay,
Parents can't afford to pay,
We need a better way!
To the tune of Row, Row, Row your boat:
Pay, Pay, Pay teachers well
'Cuz they're parents too!
If you want your child to learn,
What are you gonna do?
