Bird & Butterfly Gardens
for Homes and Communities

Learn how to make your yard attractive to butterflies and birds. Learn how to have butterflies return to your yard year after year. Learn about sun and soil requirements and receive a plant list for
wildlife friendly plants. Examples of various successful butterfly and bird gardens will be shown. Tennessee Aquarium lead horticulturalist Christine Bock Hunt will also lead a walk of the grounds to identify various bird-friendly shrubs and flowers already planted around the Arboretum.

Seeds and seedlings will be given out.

Instructor: Christine Bock Hunt, lead horticulturalist with the Tennessee Aquarium. As a naturalist, she shares her knowledge of wildflowers, trees, uses of plants and medicinal properties.  Recently, she has been helping school groups set up Pollinator gardens and growing out flowers for butterflies. She also tags monarchs in fall on their journey south.  She enjoys sharing information about nature and flowers for gardens!
