Target Audience
This course is intended for physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses with direct experience in the management of patients, with, or at risk of TB. This is not an introductory course. It is required that nursing participants have a minimum of one year experience in TB case management and attend the TB Nurse Case Management course prior to attending TB Intensive.

Conference Goal
Using highly interactive lectures and case studies, participants will be able to identify the facets involved in identifying and treating patients with latent TB infection and patients with TB disease by reviewing the current epidemiology, pathogenesis, identification, and treatment of  TB including issues that complicate treatment such as mental health, HIV,  diabetes and others.

Conference Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to describe steps involved in initiating treatment for TB including distinguishing between infection and disease and TB and NTM lung disease; describethe use of laboratory and radiographic tools for management of persons with TB; identify correct treatment regimens for TB disease and infection; describe the use of genotyping; describe the use of interferon gamma release assays in screening for TB; identify methods of airborne infection isolation and the role of the GeneXpert in release from isolaton; describe diagnostic and therapeutic considerations in extrapulmonary TB, diabetes coinfection, and TB in children; identify current recommendations for treating persons with TB and HIV and those suffering from mental health conditions; identify CDC TB technical instructions; describe the management of patients with drug resistant TB; identify ethical considerations in treating patients with TB.

Format
The format for this live event will include lecture presentations and case scenario analysis with audience discussion and participation. There will be ample time for questions and answers.
