KV PEACe Framed!

Photography Exhibit Showcases Work of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Psychiatry Patients

Please celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Kindervelt! Kindervelt Liaison 4 is hosting the Patiently Made photography show at the Kennedy Heights Arts Center Lindner Annex on May 5th from 7 -10 PM. We will have beautiful art work, basket raffles, and a fun photo booth. Enjoy lite bites, beer, wine, and of course margaritas!

Art therapy can enable unseen wounds to heal, revealing beauty in the process, say mental health experts at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Pieces of this beauty will be showcased May 5 at a gallery reception, “PEACe Framed,” featuring photography by young people who’ve faced a diverse range of mental health challenges.

Sponsored by Kindervelt, the hospital’s oldest auxiliary, the fund-raising event will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Kennedy Heights Art Center. Admission is $25 per person; tickets include refreshments and the opportunity to purchase photos on display.

All ticket proceeds benefit the new Kindervelt Psychiatric Emergency Assessment Center (PEACe), a dedicated suite of treatment rooms adjacent to the hospital’s emergency room.

The innovative care unit, one of the first in the nation, provides a safe and calm environment for children who come to the hospital in mental distress, as well as speedy, targeted treatment.

Doctors say the need is acute at Children’s Hospital, which has seen a nearly 50 percent increase in emergency mental health visits over the last five years.
