Creating an Engaging Reading Culture

Imagine a classroom where all children participate in a vibrant reading culture that values all readers and all reading. How can we create such a classroom while still meeting standards-based instructional goals? In this workshop, literacy leader Donalyn Miller shares research-proven instructional moves that increase children's reading ability and motivation, rituals and routines like book talking and read alouds, and management tools for readers' notebooks and conferring that meet both academic and personal reading goals.
