Promoting Awareness, Inclusivity, and Empathy

We are not just teaching the people our children are today, we are teaching global citizens. Through reading, we can expand children's understanding of the world and themselves. In this new workshop, Donalyn Miller frames the historical background of diverse children's literature, shares current and classic titles that celebrate our global family, and provides practical strategies and resources for increasing children's awareness and empathy for others through standard-based reading and writing workshop lessons.
