Speaker - R. Shawn McBride 

It could be said of R. Shawn McBride “Have Business Ownership Issues, Will Travel.” Unlike many business attorneys who tend to concentrate in a specific geographic area, R. Shawn McBride is licensed to practice in twelve states and the District of Columbia. His clients seek out his unique knowledge and experience across state lines and international boundaries. As the managing member of The R. Shawn McBride Law Office, P.L.L.C., Shawn’s practice includes business entity formation, governance, mergers and acquisitions, conversions, financing, debt and equity issuances, formation and disclosure issues, dissolutions, reorganizations and business combination transactions, buy-sells, exit planning, corporate governance, international trade and securities offerings.

His clients have been in a wide variety of industries including technology, professional services, health care, real estate, agriculture, food processing, financial services, private equity and heavy industry.


One of Shawn’s areas of concentration is protecting an owner or investor in situations involving multiple owners, helping them plan for such inevitable events such as death, disability, divorce and disagreements.

Prior to launching his corporate law boutique in 2012, Shawn practiced business, corporate and transactional law at K&L Gates LLP in Dallas, Thelen LLP in Washington, D.C. and Richards, Layton & Finger, P.A. in Wilmington, Delaware.

A former Maryland CPA, Shawn has been admitted to practice law in California, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Texas and Wyoming.

Shawn earned his J.D. at the University of Maryland School Of Law, and a B.S. in accounting and business at Towson University, graduating with honors at both schools.
