Essay Workshop
August 22 - 24

Since 2008 the editors and admissions experts of CATES College Essay Workshops have helped rising Juniors like you to craft college essays, complete the common application, and learn interview skills. You'll leave this three day intensive with a completed draft of your essay, and one less thing to worry about.

The workshop takes place over 3 days from 9am-5pm.  Each day includes two writing sessions guided by our Essay Experts, along with additional workshops on the Common Application, Interviewing Skills, a workshop with a College Admissions expert, and a mock interview with an actual college interviewer.  Lunch is provided.

By the end of the workshop, each student will have developed his or her personal theme, possess a completed the personal statement and short answer essay for the common application, filled out the common application online, and completed a mock interview.
Here's what a couple of recent participants had to say about the workshop:

  • Clearly whatever you are teaching in that workshop is working: it's a great essay!"
    - John, parent of Sarah, University of Chicago Class of 2014

  • "I got in Early Decision! They even commented on how nice my common-app essay was! Thank you so much for all your help..."
-Ben, Colby College Class of 2014
Event Fee: $995.00

  • Get a headstart on Early Decision
  • Be in the first wave of rolling admissions
  • Give your college counselors the tools to get a jump on the college application process
  • Get one thing off your plate during the most important semester of both school and the testing season!
  • Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be cancelled and their registrants offered either a refund or an equal value of private tutoring
  • CATES does not offer students the opportunity to make up missed sessions.
  • CATES will work with students to make up any classes canceled by CATES due to weather, state of emergency or any other reason.
  • In our mock tests CATES strives to create the closest possible approximation of real testing conditions, however there are conditions for some specific accommodations that we are unable to replicate. Please contact mocktest@catestutoring.com for more information.
  • Student behavior that disrupts classes will result in an initial warning emailed to the client. Subsequent disruptive behavior will result in dismissal from the program. Clients dismissed in the first half of the program will receive a pro-rated refund. Clients dismissed at or after the program's half-way point will not receive any refund.
