Every day, Islanders contribute to causes they love and generate social change that transforms our community for the good. The National Philanthropy Day Reception and Awards Ceremony acknowledges the dedication and passion of finalists in the following categories:
- Generosity of Spirit Award, sponsored by The United Way of Greater Victoria
- Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer Award, sponsored by Coast Capital Savings
- Outstanding Philanthropic Service Club Award sponsored by Camosun College
- Corporate Responsibility Award, sponsored by the University of Victoria
- Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy (5-10 years old), sponsored by the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island
- Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy (11 - 18 years old), sponsored by TELUS
Kathy LeMay will kick off our evening with her story of how she came to embrace her own inner philanthropist and the generosity plan process she formalized to help lead others to some of the worlds most important social change efforts of our time.
National Philanthropy Day 2017 will take place on Wednesday, November 22nd at the Victoria Conference Centre.
Light appetizers will be served.
About the speaker:
Kathy LeMay is an internationally-recognized public speaker, philanthropic advisor, global social change 
fundraiser and published author whose purpose-driven life centers on lifting up the voices, stories, leadership and influence of the women and girls around the world. Kathy speaks about the transformative life; of shifting from success to significance, and putting humanity back into modern philanthropy. She coaches social change innovators and global donors to boldly and unapologetically create the world we know is possible. Kathy's book The Generosity Plan, released by Simon & Schuster and Beyond Words in 2010, aims to put philanthropic power into the hands of regular individuals, families, and communities.

AFP Vancouver Island Event Cancellation Policy
AFP Vancouver Island reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable.
If AFP cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund.
Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event, registrants will have the option to either receive a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at the new, future date.
Registration Cancellation by Participant
Refunds will be issued for cancelations recived prior to November 1st, 2017. No refunds will be issued after this date.
Registration cancellations received prior to the deadline may be eligible to receive a refund less a $10 service fee.
Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund.
Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend an event.
Cancellations will be accepted via phone or e-mail, and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline.
All refund requests must be made by the attendee or credit card holder.
Refunds will be credited back to the original credit card used for payment.
