Georgia ITE May Monthly Meeting @ Park Tavern

Topic: Designed to Ride: Emerging Bike Transportation Topics

Description: Jenny Johnson (Kimley-Horn) and Katelyn DiGioia (GDOT) will discuss new resources for designing bike infrastructure in both urban and rural settings and provide a scan of emerging transportation technologies that support bicycling. They will also share information on Vision Zero, bike laws, and advocacy efforts and discuss opportunities on how to get involved. Katelyn rides for transportation and her career is focused on design and policy; Jenny rides for exercise and competition and her career is focused on ITS and Operations. Together they bring a breadth of knowledge on how to design and operate roads with bike riders of all types in mind.

ITE “Bring a Friend” Day: In an effort to grow our organization and encourage a diversity of transportation professionals, we are introducing ‘Bring a Friend” day. We are looking to expand our reach with roadway design, transportation planning, and other transportation related professionals. You are encouraged and rewarded with bringing a colleague that is new to ITE, or would like to reconnect with ITE (first time attendees are eligible). There will be a raffle with one host and one guest being awarded a $100 Amazon gift card.

BeltLine Eastside Trail Bike Ride: How are you planning to get to the Park Tavern? Consider riding your bike, loading your bike onto the front of a MARTA bus, or hauling your bike in with your car. You’re invited to take a casual ride down the Eastside BeltLine trail after the meeting. This is not a group ride or tour, but just an opportunity to soak up some sunshine with your colleagues.
