Join us for the first Champaign Surplus Hobie Demo Day at Homer Lake where you'll get a chance to demo recreational and fishing kayaks, stand up pedalboards and more from Hobie! These pedal kayaks feature MirageDrive® technology for a seamless, hands-free kayaking experience.

Hobie representatives and Champaign Surplus experts will be in attendance to show you the ropes and chat with you about what makes Hobie kayaks top of the line. Plus, meet & mingle with professional angler, Susie Magarity! This event is free and open to the public.

Event Details:

DRESS TO GET WET, ESPECIALLY FOOTWEAR (participants will be required to step into the edge of the lake to safely get into the kayaks).

Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, hat and anything else you need to stay comfortable and safe for the weather forecasted.

There are bathrooms, picnic tables, and playgrounds nearby. You may bring a lunch with you, but please throw away ALL trash when finished.

Please check in at the event tent when you arrive. Demos will take place on a first come, first served basis.

Minimum age to demo a kayak solo is 16 years old.  Those under 18 years old require a parent/guardian on premise and signature to participate. The parent/guardian must stay on shore, near the boat ramp while the minor is on the water.  Tandem kayaks are available for those under 16 to demo with a parent/guardian.

The demo will take place at the boat ramp between the Nature Playscape and the Walnut Hill Shelter. There are multiple parking lots in this area. Please do not park in an unauthorized area or block in other vehicles.
