The true test of a project manager is not the plan but the execution. Regardless of how thorough or how well thought out the plan may be, unforeseen factors and events – that are not part of the plan – will invariable occur. How these "events" are handled can often make the difference between a project’s success or failure.
Drawing from experience in some very high risk projects, we will look at factors that contribute to project success and failure and identify bear traps to avoid all the while setting up the structures necessary to enable project managers to deal with crisis’ gracefully.
