9-19-17 Kids in Poverty Learn Differently!: Instructional Practice that Makes a Difference

Speaker:  Laura Smith & Christina Krantz

Target Audience:  General education teachers, Special education teachers, Instructional Coaches, Principals, Counselors

Description:  What can you do for a student living in poverty?  You can create a supportive learning environment that enables hope to shine into the student’s world!  This supportive environment can be established through intentional instructional practices and use of strategies.  Come join us for this professional learning opportunity to help change the lives of some of your most struggling students!!

Participant outcomes:

  1. Exploration of and planned intentional use of strategies to improve learner achievement of students living in poverty.
  2. Improved understanding of learner difficulties of students living in poverty.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of strategies to improve college and/or career readiness.

At CKSEC, we love kids and families! Unfortunately, due to liability issues and professional decorum, children and other family members or friends are not permitted to attend our trainings.

Please get permission from CKEC prior to video or audio recording a portion or all of a CKEC session. 

Please dress in layers as it can be difficult to adjust the temperature.

Attendance Policy:

If you register to attend a session, but find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible. Space is limited and by canceling you will allow others to benefit from these highly qualified professional development opportunities. A fee could be assessed for no shows.

Districts will be notified of those who registered and did not attend or did not cancel prior to be session.
