Workshop Descriptions

Capital Planning 101: 

Understand how to sustainably manage your affordable housing portfolio by:

                   Quantifying Capital Renewal Needs;
                   Identifying Infrastructure Risk; and
                   Establishing a Decision Development Framework

Presenter:  Domenico Lepri, AScT, LEEDŽ AP , Vice President at AMERESCO Asset Sustainability.  

Dom has over 14 years of extensive public and private sector experience in the design, construction, renovation and asset management of real property. He has recent experience developing asset strategies based on information gained through facility condition assessments and an asset management framework. Before joining Ameresco, Dom was the Manager, Capital Planning at BC Housing where he was responsible for providing asset sustainability direction and strategic capital analysis used in the long term decision making for the Provincial Social Housing Portfolio.

Policy Development for Non-Profit Housing Providers:

In this interactive workshop, participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of which policies are required for basic good board governance and operations in a non-profit housing setting
  • Learn the basics of developing policy documents and the means to consistently review and update policies
  • Develop sample policies that will provide the template for creating any policies required

Facilitator:   Rhonda Lorch, Executive Director, MNPHA.   

Rhonda has been supporting the leaders of non-profit organizations to do their good work better since 2004. Her special interests include good governance, organizational effectiveness and of course, the provision of quality, affordable housing for all. She has wide experience in defining strategic frameworks for non-profit organizations, including the development of policies that reflect the mission, vision and guiding principles of the organization.
