Montessori Outcomes: How to Raise an Amazing Child through Montessori Education & Parenting

Please join us for an incredible Parent Education Evening. It would be hard to find two Montessori professionals who have a deeper understanding of how high quality Montessori practice leads to the kind of outcomes all of us hope for our children.

At our last Parent Education Evening, and during our own staff professional development day this year, DVMS developed a Learner Profile. We want to give some depth to the Learner Profile and, with that in mind, we are presenting an incredible evening with two of Canada’s most recognized and experienced Montessori practitioners, and a Montessori graduate, to help you understand how a Montessori ‘life’ creates engaged learners — and leads to adults who are capable, caring, and contributing.

Margaret Whitley has been involved in Montessori education in some capacity for over 50 years. She attended a Montessori school as a child and worked at the school founded by her family in London ON, throughout high school and university. In 1985, she did the elementary training in Italy, taught at both elementary levels, and then started the first Montessori Junior High program in Canada in 1988. She has taken on various leadership roles in the Montessori community and in her school including being the school’s Executive Director since 2004 and working with CCMA for over 20 years. Margaret has two grown children that both attended Montessori for 12 years and has been a guest lecturer for elementary training courses in Toronto for 5 years. Margaret’s personal mission is to raise the awareness of exceptional Montessori education to many more in years to come. Margaret has seen Montessori through many lenses. After 28 years as head of school at Montessori Academy of London, Margaret will be stepping down to do a Masters of Education in the field of Montessori next year.

Even after 40 year as a Montessori practitioner, Pat Gere remains fascinated by the power of this educational paradigm. It allows us to know and support each individual’s deepest needs and gifts within a collaborative community, it teaches essential 21st century skills, and it unveils the framework of knowledge that places the child or young adult in their place and time, and enthused about what they have to offer life. Her passion is leveraging Montessori pedagogy in collaboration with others to change the world. Pat has her Casa, Elementary, and Adolescent training. Pat was head of school at OMS in Ottawa for16 years where she started the first authentic Montessori High School in Canada in 2013.
