MAPS Annual Interfaith Iftar

Migration and Transformation in our faiths and our lives

Wednesday June 7th 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM

The Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS) is honored to invite you – our family, friends and neighbors – to the 11th annual MAPS Ramadan Interfaith Iftar! Please join us for a delicious meal and thoughtful conversation.

"Give to the indigent migrants, those who were expelled from their homes and their property, those who are seeking the grace and pleasure of God, and who give support to the causes of God and His messenger; they are indeed the sincere ones. And then there are those who, before the arrival of the immigrants, had established their homes and their faith, they love those who came to them seeking refuge, and find no desire in their hearts for aid given to those people, in fact they give them preference over themselves, even through their own poverty and need. For those saved from the covetousness of their own souls; they are the ones that achieve prosperity.”  Quran [59:8-9]

In many of our faith traditions, migration and transformation are central themes. Christianity, Judaism and Islam all have central figures (Jesus, Moses and Muhammad) who were themselves migrants at some point in their lives. Acceptance or rejection of migrants is often a key theme in whether societies transform and become better and more suited for the challenges they face  or decay and stagnate. Come join us for thoughtful conversations around the themes of migration and transformation personally and as a society, lead by Sr. Aneelah Afzali and a panel of local speakers with backgrounds rooted in migration and transformation.
