The Texas Association of Community Development Corporations (TACDC) and the Texas Energy Poverty Research Institute are extremely excited to partner in the upcoming 2018 Community Development and Energy Solutions Conference, “Empowering Texas Communities”.

Affordable housing continues to be a concern throughout the state of Texas as demand continually exceeds the supply of available housing.   Older housing stock and reduced buying power put more and more Texans at risk of not only paying more than they can afford for housing, but also for electricity to power their homes.  With the uncertainty surrounding these challenges, TACDC and TEPRI feel that the time has come to elevate the discussions to develop the framework needed to move forward to a bright and prosperous future for the citizens throughout all of Texas.

It is with great pride that we unveil this new strategic partnership between the Texas Association of Community Development Corporations and the Texas Energy Poverty Research Institute as we concentrate on statewide housing and energy issues, and open our annual conference to a larger audience of industry leaders.

Empowering Texas Communities will focus on the growing housing and energy-poverty nexus and we need your support.  We are reaching out to partner with housing organizations, city and community leaders, energy providers, and innovators to develop a statewide initiative that positively impacts affordable housing and allows for the creation of sustainable, affordable energy.

The two day conference is scheduled for Sunday, March 4 through Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Moody Gardens Hotel in Galveston. We are anticipating an overwhelming response for the event with participation from community development corporations, energy companies, for profit and nonprofit real estate developers, financial institutions, community development financial institutions, government officials, social service agencies, green building specialists, and many others.
