T&DI UNO SEMINAR

Geotechnical Topics in Pavement Engineering

Please join T&DI at the UNO Engineering Building Auditorium (Building #12, Room EN-101) for a seminar presentation providing basic knowledge of the tools and methods to evaluate and design flexible and rigid pavements.

This seminar will review field investigation and construction specification criteria for soils, aggregates, and stabilized materials used in pavement engineering. Topics that will be covered include tools utilized to provide soil subgrade design values and aid in forensic evaluations.  The seminar will also provide a comparison and explanation revisions recently released in the 2016 Edition of the Louisiana Standard Specifications for Roads and Bridges.

SPEAKER Information

Two speakers have been selected for this imformative presentation:

Gavin Gautreau, P.E. serves as Senior Geotechnical Research Engineer at the Louisiana Transportation Research Center (LTRC) in Baton Rouge.  After graduating from LSU in 1993 and earning his P.E. registration in 1998, Mr. Gautreau worked in the private sector as Project Engineer/Manager at G&E Engineering and as Project Engineer in his father's geotechnical firm, Geautreau and Gonzales.  In 2006, Mr. Gautreau won the Louisiana Engineering Society's  F. Hugh Coughlin Young Engineer Award.  He continues to be active in LES, ASCE, and Chi Epsilon, a Civil Engineering Honor Society. He joined the ASCE T&DI Executive Committee in 2016.

Mostafa Elseifi, Ph.D., P.E. (VA) is an Associate Professor with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at LSU.  His experience focuses on pavement design and evaluation using analytical methods such as finite element methods, fracture behavior of hot mix asphalt, and modeling of binder and asphalt mixture performance.  He has authored dozens of technical papers and won the Transportation Research Board's D.Grant Mickle Award in 2006.  Dr. Elseifi continues to be very active in ASCE and other professional societies.
