The Light Touch Regime: A Refresher on the NHS Commissioning Rules and the Light Touch Regime and How they Impact on Providers

About the Seminar

This training session is hosted by the East of England NHS Collaborative Procurement Hub and will be led by Christopher Brennan of leading legal   firm Mills & Reeve.  It is free to NHS staff who work in any area of Procurement, Commissioning, or related fields.

The seminar will provide an update and refresher on the so-called “light touch” procurement regime as it applies to NHS commissioning, and will look at the implications for providers.

Specific topics covered will include:

  •  A reminder of the duties of NHS commissioners when procuring NHS–funded health services from providers.
  • Tensions between the NHS commissioning rules and the EU procurement       regime.
  • Tactics adopted by commissioners to deal with the tensions.
  • A pen-portrait of the remedies available to providers when mistakes have           been made.
  • A quick look at recent legal developments affecting this area.
  • Life after the EU: the (possible) implications of Brexit on the above.

Timings:

The session will follow the approximate times below:

9.30am - registration and tea / coffee

10am - Training starts (Short midway break around 11.15am)

12.30pm - Training ends wth sandwich lunch.
