The Inquiry Process
in Social Studies

  • What does an inquiry cycle look like in social studies?
  • How can I use this for curriculum work and in the classroom?
  • What resources are already out there that I can build upon?
  • Why are inquiry cycles considered best practice in social studies?
We have known for years that inquiry is a best practice in social studies       teaching and learning. There are four main parts to the inquiry cycle: questioning, research, analysis, and communicating results.

This workshop will explore each part, assess what already exists in social studies inquiry resources, and build inquiries for YOUR classroom. Example frameworks   to be utilized include C3, EngageNY, and Inquiry Design Model.

*Bring several lesson plans and/ or a unit plan.

*Bring a fully charged laptop.
