Saturday Frog Prints e! STEM/Sail Camp
at Center for Wooden Boats 
September 16 - November 4, 2017 

In partnership with The Center for Wooden Boats, the Fall 2017 Saturday STEM/Sail & Robot Camp is a fantastic opportunity for middle school girls. The STEM/Sail Robot Camp is eight Saturdays of scientific investigations, games, sailing, and fun!

WHAT is a STEM/Sail Camp?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. STEM/Sail Program is eight weeks of  learning the physics of sailing and applying what is learned in scientific investigations, games, sailing, and fun! Sessions will include: Underwater robots, Sail Boat building, Robot Races, a Sail on Puget sound, and learning to sail El Toro wooden sailboats!

Who can attend? 

Middle school girls, rising into 6th through 8th grade. Classes limited to 12 campers.

When is it happening?

Saturdays, September 16 - November 4, 2017
Camp Hours are 9 AM - 4 PM
(8:30-9:00 is drop off and 4:00-4:30 PM are supervised pick-up times)

What will we be doing?

  • Learn to Sail & the Physics behind Sailing!
    Weeks 1-4 (September 16 - Oct 7): The girls will be learning knot tying, line handling, safety on land, chart reading and navigation skills as well as how to use the wind and tide.  They will be learning to sail in El Toro wooden sailboats.

    Students need to be prepared to go out rain or sun; bring an extra set of dry clothing. 
  • Hands-on Learning with an underwater Robot!
    Weeks 4-8 (October 14 - November 4): Is robot creation, boat design, and building underwater robots, testing them, and then exploring Lake Union.

How much?

  • Suggested Payment: $500 for both sections/$250 for either Sailing or UnderWater Robot build
  • Financial aid is available; see below
  • Use Paypal, or make checks payable to Frog Prints e!
  • Referrals: we will refund $50 for each referral who signs up (up to $150)
  • Waiver: A signed liability and photo permission waiver must be completed by first day of class.  You can download the waiver form here.

In partnership with CWB we offer a ‘Pay What You Can’ scholarship; submission forms are available at: http://cwb.org/classes/scholarships/ 

If you would like to apply for financial aid, please check the financial aid box on the registration form and select "pay by check."  This will hold your spot while you are applying for a scholarahip.
