What is an EPA Administrative Order and How Can They Impact a Region

In 2009, the United Station Environmental Protection Agency handed down an Administrative Order (AO) to numerous municipalities served by the regional sewer system in western Lehigh County. This AO was a follow-up to an initial AO issued in 2006 which focused on the discharge of untreated wastewater during peak flow periods at the Kline’s Island Wastewater Treatment Plant (KIWTP) in Allentown. The 2009 AO expanded the area of focus, addressing all portions of the wastewater system that convey flows to the KIWTP. This is a problem of regional significance and will require a regional solution. Please join us for a presentation to discuss this important regional issue and learn how it may impact you.
