June Chapter Meeting

Chapter 179 is pleased to present, Mr. Joel Bagnal, former Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States for Homeland Security, as our guest speaker during the June chapter meeting:   
It seems like every day we see a new story in the news about a major cyber hack with greater frequency and severity.  This presentation will examine the true nature of the cyber threat, why it seems so hard to mitigate the cyber threat, and what commercial organizations and government agencies are doing to solve the challenge.

While serving as an advisor to the President of the United States, Joel became the principal architect of the nation’s first Cybersecurity Policy. He coordinated the development of the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative, a multibillion dollar program created to enhance the security of “the network” in defending critical resources of the United States from cyber threats. His passion and focus for helping organizations develop solutions to mitigate the cyber threat stems from three decades of career experience in the national security industry combined with his educational background as a systems and software engineer.
