Procurement 101: Helping Small Businesses Supply Large Institutions

Small businesses are often interested in contracts with large buyers like universities and corporations, but may not understand the challenges in the procurement process or how to manage opportunities and risks. Chicago Anchors for a Strong Economy (CASE) educates small businesses on the procurement process of large institutions in the Chicago area by teaching what is required to break into the supply chain and addressing potential challenges of supplying large institutions.

Businesses in attendance will gain direct access to key information and connections to be placed in front of large Chicagoland institutions.

  • How procurement is done differently at large institutions and the different needs of each buyer
  • What the procurement process is for large institutional buyers, and how it varies by buyer type
  • What anchor institutions look for that gets your business on their “radar”
  • What challenges anchor institutions have had in the past when dealing with small local businesses, and how to surpass them
