CMRO Support Broker Initial Training June 20 and 21, 2017

The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) is sponsoring a  two-day Initial Support Broker Training for persons who want to provide Support Broker services to those in the Self-Directed Service option of the Community Pathways Waiver.

Self-Directed Services allow persons who have an intellectual or developmental disability (and meet waiver eligibility requirements) to choose and design their own waiver services and supports with the assistance of their chosen team and within the guidelines of the program.

Persons in the Community Pathways waiver can design their own services, interview and hire their own staff, and set their own payment rates to meet their disability related needs.  Self-Directed services gives people with disabilities the opportunity to live independently and have more control of their own lives.

Initial Support Broker Training and Certification is required before a Support Broker can provide services for individuals in the Self-Directed Service.  Certification is valid for 2 years.

It is expected that all attendees will actively participate and comply with epectations of the class including discussions, group activities, and evaluations.  Trainees will be required to demonstrate core competency by passing a written exam.  Because the information is critical to the success of this program, participants who arrive more than 15 min. late, or leave early, or do not attend the second day of training will not be certified.

Registration is required, but does not guarantee acceptance to take the training.  Registration priority is given to those individuals who are ready to support someone currently in or entering Community Pathways. If you would like to register, please click on the link below.

You will receive 2 confirmation messages:  The first one confirms that we recieved your registration request.  The second confirms that your request has been approved and you may attend.  If you have any questions about the training or if you require special accommodations, please email donna.will@maryland.gov

*Dates are subject to change - Locations will vary across the state.  Selected participants will receive the updated information.
