These weekend morning classes are designed for the civilian and professional who wish to acquire the necessary awareness and skills involved in using a handgun for personal protection in real world situations.

If you plan on carrying for personal protection, participating in combat-style shooting events, or just want to learn more about defensive shooting in a dynamic environment, this course is for you!

Participants must have a current, valid New York State pistol permit.

TOPICS COVERED:

  • fundamentals of pistol shooting
  • understanding the "combat mindset"
  • presentation from a holster:  the draw 
  • target acquisition
  • target selection and engagement
  • forward and retreating movement
  • emergency and tactical reloads

REQUIRED GEAR INCLUDES:

  • your current, valid NYS Pistol Permit
  • eye and hearing protection
  • a semi-automatic center-fired handgun of 9mm or greater
  • a non-Serpa outside-the-waistband (OWB) kydex holster
  • three magazines and OWB magazine holder
  • 250 rounds of new factory ammo

PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

No prior experience is required.
However, facility with your handgun is expected (loading, operation -- this is not a course on how your firearm works).

SINGLE-DAY CLASS FEE:  $250
BOTH CLASSES / SAME WEEKEND FEE: $475 

Pre-registration is required.
Course may be repeated. Tactical shooting is a skill that must be practiced.
 

This is a two-day class; total 8 hours before proceeding to the next level.
However, you may register for ONLY one day (4 hours) this weekend as long as you make-up the appropriate 4 hours on another weekend.
Please note the complete series Level 1-4 is offered four times per year as per the schedule below. 

  • Sign-up for Saturday-ONLY, if you are unavailable Sunday this weekend and want to get started. You may make-up Day 2 of PPw/H I another weekend.
  • Sign-up for Sunday-ONLY, if you have previously taken Day 1 of PPw/H I.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:  

Sandy Reddin
Chief Instructor, Knight Tactical Solutions


Sandy has been training novice and professional shooters alike for decades. He has trained and certified hundreds of men and women in emergency services and disaster response, basic firearms safety and use, tactical firearms use, and self-defense. He is recognized as a tier one firearms instructor and trainer.


Former Military, Sandy is a graduate of the DARC Special Operations Urban Warfare School, the DARC Advanced Tactical Firearms School, Airborne and Air Assault qualified, and certified in Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Emergency Response.  He is also a former Emergency Medical Technician and a former Helicopter Instructor pilot. 


Since 2001, Sandy has used his experience to provide training to civilian, Law Enforcement and Military personnel on a professional level. In 2002, he founded the C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) program in the State of Connecticut. He is a FEMA Instructor-Trainer, and American Red Cross Disaster Services Instructor-Trainer. His NRA credentials include NRA Training Counselor (can train and certify new instructors), NRA Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun Instructor, NRA Personal Protection In The Home and NRA Personal Protection Outside The Home Instructor, and NRA Chief Range Safety Officer. In 2005, he was a senior member of the Disaster Services team providing Mass Care after Hurricane Katrina.


Among other awards and citations, Sandy is a recipient of the Presidential Service Award.
